This exhibition
shows nine clothes from XVII-XIX centuries belonged to Pomarici Santomasi Family. The exhibition has been organized thanks to funds got from the Ministry of the University and the Scientific and Technologic Research, and from the Apulian Superintendence for the Environmental, Architectonic, Artistic and Historical Heritage. The restoration of the clothes has been supervised by Mrs. Rosa D’Elia. This is a brief description of the clothes:
- Formal dress of Empire style and French manufacture
made of banded light green silk alternated with satin and taffeta;
- Dancing dress of Empire style
;with white mechanical tulle and racemes embroideries in lamellate gold;
;white muslin petticoat;
- Two pieces wedding dress
Silk damask made with floral-patterns rose tea-coloured, appliqués of embroidery; on white or ivory mechanical tulle; à la polonnaise skirt with back folds;
- Three pieces visit dress
Made with taffeta of green silk, vertical-lined; a skirt with back drape and round train; close- fitting jacket, tight-waisted;
- Two pieces walking dress
Made with taffeta emerald green; skirt bordered with satin bouillonné; close-fitting
top with side sticks;
- Three pieces formal dress
Made with taffeta light water-green with braids; top with side sticks; close-fitting jacket; a frill decorates the whole top; overskirt of the same material;
- Scarf
of white high-edged silk, embroidered in lamellar gold
The exhibition includes a well-made male waistcoat.
